Giving is the secret of abundance. – Swami Sivananda

I love giving gifts. Big, small, birthday, Christmas, or for no reason at all. It makes me happy when that other person smiles. Of course, sometimes it’s for my pleasure, too. Back when glitter-bombing was all the rage, I sent a card packed full of glitter to a friend in London, who ended up opening it on the Underground on her way to work. She loved it, but I loved it even more, because everyone knows glitter just doesn’t come off. At all. I loved that she loved it. We laughed for days.

You can give to strangers too. I like that I have a My Planet Card, which I’ve set up to donate to the Rhino Fund, as many of you may know, represented, promoted and supported by Braam Malherbe.  Meals on Wheels, the Chaeli Campaigne and NSRI are some of the other organisations that I support monthly.  I recall my dad, when he was alive, used to send money to The Lighthouse Club for the Blind. Everybody is happy, because of a little bit of giving.

The more money and material goods we have, the more we want and the less they bring us satisfaction. The real key to feeling good, it seems, is to give and keep on giving, allowing the abundance to flow.

Giving to others is one of life’s most rewarding activities.  There are some great ways to help those less fortunate than you. Make a difference to their world – and yours!

The Power of Giving

You know that giving makes the world a better place… and you’ve almost certainly felt the personal benefits of giving.

The power of giving is about you and your potential.

The surprise is that you can improve every part of your own life by giving.

Research shows that giving is one of the best things we can do for ourselves, as well as others. Virtually all successful (and certainly all happy people) have discovered the secrets of giving.

Giving will show you what you already know in your heart – that giving is a key part of every person’s life.

Receiving is as necessary as giving. To graciously receive is an expression of dignity of giving.
Those who are unable to receive are actually incapable of giving.
Giving and receiving are different aspects of the flow
of energy in the universe.
– Deepak Chopra

Giving and receiving must always be balanced. We know how important it is to openheartedly give of ourselves, but there must be balance to keep the energy of abundance moving.

Can you receive whatever comes your way with gratitude and without guilt?

Can you let go of the idea that it is selfish or weak to accept support from others?

Think of it this way. We empower others when we accept from them. We wouldn’t have any givers if no one were willing to receive. And the more we receive with gratitude, the more we have to give back to the giver. It’s a wonderful and uplifting circle.

Be open to receiving from any source that honours your integrity,
and be willing to get what you have asked for…
The more easily you can receive, the more easily
the universe can give to you.
– Sanaya Roman

Before giving, the mind of the giver is happy.  While giving, the mind of the giver is peaceful and having given, the mind of the giver is uplifted.

Happy giving…it makes a difference!
xoxo
