Do you think of money, your net worth, your debt or your bank balance?
The majority of people in the world are not wealthy. They struggle with money, month by month, some literally living hand to mouth and others report having more month at the end of their money. For some, this has sadly become known as “suicide week”.
It is debilitating. However as most people are in this predicament it simply gets accepted. It becomes a vicious cycle that seems impossible to escape…
The truth is that when we think about our value or self-worth, we often link it to our bank balance, our income or perhaps our assets or liabilities. Does your financial success build or damage your sense of self?
Of course you want to be wealthy, everyone does. You don’t want to have to worry about money. But the truth is that most people have the idea of wealth all wrong.
Let me share my belief with you: You are Your Greatest Asset. Before you look out of the window, look into the mirror and know that you are valuable and full of potential to change the world that you see!
Have you ever felt that when you have a lot of money in the bank, for example, if you won the lotto, then you will be wealthy? You will be wealthy and life will be so much better….right? But actually, you need to know that you will only ever have a lot of money in the bank, when you become wealthy within. Hmm – what does that really mean to you?
Think about this, surveys done report that 95% of lotto winners end up losing all they had won or worse off, three to five years after winning the big prize…because their beliefs about wealth never shifted.
In my Wealth Webinars, one of the core values that I present is that the pathway to wealth today is about recognising your own worth, your value in the world. Your wealth is within! It raises the question, how do you value you?
Wealth starts in your mind. Too many of us walk around with such a dangerously low self belief and sense of self-worth. You are not the clothes you wear, you are not the car you drive, and you are not the house that you live in. You can accomplish great things without all of these things. And why? Because you are the one who makes all of these things possible, by the choices that you make!
I know that you are your wealth; you are the greatest trading commodity that you will ever be blessed with. Money and possessions come with a limit. Money can only be spent once. A nice blouse can only be worn a certain amount of times, but your value is infinite…
We cannot rise higher than our thought of ourselves. – Orison Swett Marden
There are two action steps you can take:
Make regular self-worth deposits, into your ‘self-worth bank account’ in the form of self acknowledgement. Don’t wait for the outside world to give it to you, give it to yourself! One of the ways that you can build feelings of confidence, success and self-worth is to acknowledge your successes . Take time each day to identify and write down your successes. Find at least 3 successes for that day. These don’t have to be monumental successes, but things that you feel are successful for you. It could be drinking enough water, securing a new client, completing a proposal or writing your blog.
